About the role

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of immigration law matters. This includes initial client consultations, visa eligibility advice, case strategy, risk assessment, prospects advice, procedural guidance, evidence preparation, drafting, lodgement, follow-up and outcome management.

You will work across partner visas, family visas, skilled visas, employer-sponsored visas, temporary activity visas, protection visa and humanitarian matters, visa refusals, cancellations, merits review matters, ministerial intervention requests and complex immigration submissions.

As part of a boutique migration law firm, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior practitioners, develop practical case strategy, and contribute meaningfully to matters that directly affect individuals, families, businesses and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial client consultations and advise clients on visa eligibility, strategy, risks, prospects and procedural requirements.
• Take instructions, identify client needs and recommend suitable immigration pathways.
• Assist with client conversion, including following up enquiries, explaining service options and signing up new clients.
• Support the firm’s marketing and client engagement activities in a professional and ethical manner.
• Manage immigration matters from start to finish, including strategy, evidence preparation, drafting, lodgement, follow-up and outcome management.
• Work across partner, family, skilled, employer-sponsored and temporary activity visas.
• Handle visa refusals, cancellations and merits review matters.
• Work on protection visa and humanitarian matters.
• Prepare ministerial intervention requests and complex immigration submissions.
• Draft legal submissions, statements, statutory declarations, forms and supporting evidence briefs.
• Liaise with the Department of Home Affairs, ART, courts, counsel and other stakeholders.
• Manage client files with accuracy, professionalism, urgency and care.
• Maintain strong client communication throughout the matter lifecycle.
