482 Visa Occupation List 2026: CSOL, ANZSCO Codes & Eligible Jobs

Subclass 482 Skills in Demand Visa • Reviewed 26 September 2026

Occupation eligibility is not just about finding a job title on a list. The nominated occupation must match the real duties of the position and the stream being used under the current Skills in Demand framework.

Quick answer: This guide addresses one specific part of the Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa. The current SID framework replaced the former TSS visa on 7 December 2024. Always assess the sponsorship, nomination and visa together because a weakness at one stage can affect the whole matter.

What is the CSOL?

The Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) is used for the Core Skills stream of the Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa. Home Affairs uses the ANZSCO 2022 classification for Subclass 482 and 186 applications.

Why job titles are not enough

A business may call someone a “manager”, “consultant” or “engineer”, but immigration law looks at the actual duties, level of responsibility and ANZSCO classification. Using the wrong code can undermine both the nomination and the visa.

Core Skills vs Specialist Skills occupation settings

The Core Skills stream requires an occupation on the CSOL. The Specialist Skills stream has a different framework and is designed for highly paid roles, subject to occupation exclusions and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold.

What if an occupation is removed later?

Home Affairs states that pending skilled applications are not adversely affected simply because an occupation is subsequently removed. However, a new nomination after a change of employer or occupation may require the occupation to be eligible under the rules then in force.

How to choose the right ANZSCO code

Start with the actual day-to-day duties, not the preferred title. Compare the tasks, skill level and qualifications with ANZSCO, then test the role against the employer’s organisation chart and business operations.

    Frequently asked questions

Is every ANZSCO occupation eligible for a 482 visa?

No. Eligibility depends on the stream and the occupation settings applying to the nomination.

Can I use a close occupation if my exact title is not listed?

Only if the duties genuinely align with the nominated occupation. A convenient title mismatch can lead to refusal.

Does the Specialist Skills stream use the CSOL?

It operates under different occupation settings and salary requirements. The role still must satisfy the applicable eligibility framework.

Which ANZSCO version applies to 482 visas?

Home Affairs currently uses ANZSCO 2022 for Subclass 482 and 186.
