HR and business team planning structured occupational training in Australia

Structured training requires a real training program—not ordinary productive employment relabelled as training.
Employer training sponsorship

The training plan is the legal and operational centre of a 407 matter.

The organisation, nominated training activity and visa applicant each have separate requirements. The strongest employer cases show why the training is needed, how it will be delivered and supervised, and how the plan differs from ordinary employment.

Occupational training

Training required for registration, licensing, skills enhancement or capacity building, depending on the available stream and criteria.

Training plan design

Objectives, modules, supervision, timing, workplace activities and assessment need to form a coherent structured program.

Corporate sponsorship

We coordinate the sponsor and nomination evidence with the organisation’s HR, supervisors and proposed trainee.

What we handle

Build a training program that can withstand scrutiny.

  • Training sponsorship eligibility
  • Nomination stream analysis
  • Detailed training plan strategy
  • Supervisor and workplace evidence
  • Role and occupation alignment
  • Remuneration and employment-relationship issues
  • Evidence of genuine training need
  • Coordination with trainee visa evidence
  • Department requests and complex nominations
Risk control

Issues to settle before lodgement

  • Training plan reads like a job description
  • Insufficient supervision or assessment
  • Using 407 to fill an ordinary vacancy
  • Program duration not justified by training content
  • Mismatch between the trainee’s existing experience and claimed training need

Employer FAQs

407 questions for sponsoring organisations.

General information only. Specific strategy depends on the employer, position, worker, timing and current migration law.

Can we use a 407 visa to employ someone in a normal role?
Subclass 407 is a training visa. Productive workplace activity can occur within a genuine training program, but ordinary employment should not be repackaged as training.
Do we need a training plan?
A detailed, credible training program is central to many 407 nominations and should show objectives, activities, supervision and progression.
Can a 407 lead to permanent residence?
The 407 visa itself is temporary. Any later employer-sponsored or skilled migration pathway must independently satisfy its own criteria.
Can we sponsor multiple trainees?
Potentially, but each nomination and training program should be appropriate to the role, trainee and organisational capacity.
